The Metroport Rotary Club meets every Friday at the Solana Marriott @ 7AM in Westlake, TX.


WineDiscovery 2008 was a great success!!! Thank you to all of our sponsors and guests for an outstanding evening of wine, food, friends and fun! This year's event raised $20,000 for scholarship funds, bringing total scholarship awards for the last 4 years, to over $49,000! Benefits go to scholarships for deserving Carroll and Northwest ISD students and other causes including GRACE, Metroport Meals on Wheels and the Roanoke Food Pantry. WineDiscovery 2008 has been an exciting event with a separate scholarship fund chaired by Milan Georgia and two Southlake Stampede longhorns auctioned. The longhorns featured were Southlake Stampede Singing the Blues, by artist Kathy Kromer and Watching the Sunset, by artist Benjamin Purvis. Other items included an RV with catering for 12 for tailgating at the Carroll Dragon Homecoming, a training flight on a Russian MIG (that will give you bragging rights!) and for a youngster under 13, a day as a Southlake Firefighter with Southlake Fire Services! Wines WineDiscovery 2008 featured wines chosen by experts at Farpoint Cellars, Sprouts, Glazer's, and Republic Beverage Company. Lesser known local, domestic and international wines were featured, selected by experts to be exceptional values. Styles ranged from sparkling to port. Of course, there were cigars to go with the port. Guests were able to enjoy, compare notes and rate the 26 wines available in a program booklet. Wines from this event are available at FarPointe Cellar and Sprouts.

Outstanding Food Outstanding local restaurants and vendors were on hand to provide a variety of comestibles designed to complement the wines. These vendors included Sandella's, Sweet Memories, Christina's, The Prairie House, Chef Point Cafe, Entree Vous and Nothing Bundt Cakes!.
Auction & Raffles Live Auction and Raffles will be featured! This years event featured two longhorns from the Southlake 50th Public Art Event. Other items featured this year included "City of Southlake Firefighter for a Day" for a 13 or under youngster, training flight on a Russian MIG (how many people have done that?), an RV with catering for 12 for tailgating at Carroll Dragon Homecoming, a week off the beach on Bolivar Island, Galveston, golf packages, fine jewelry, works by local artists, fitness memberships and much, much more!
